It began like many small businesses, as a dream!
My name is Janet Neate and I am the owner and operator of Cottage Care Bears. In 2006, I retired as a Detective, after serving 25 years with a Municipal Police Service. I was fortunate during my career to have a variety of policing responsibilities with most of my time spent in an investigative capacity.
In the 1940’s before the Bed & Breakfast explosion, my grandmother saw an advertisement in a newspaper, “Holiday on a Farm”. My grandmother and dad came to Picton and spent time on a farm, enjoying the farming experience and helping where they could. A fishing boat was available to guests, and my grandmother, with a fishing line tied to her front tooth managed to catch some famous walleye. Although the farmers, which fondly came to be our “Aunt and Uncle”, moved to a different farm, my parents continued the tradition. This tradition led to us camping with the heifers. I remember waking up to mooing outside our tent and dodging flaps. Eventually, my parents bought a lot and with the help of my uncle and local tradesmen built a cottage.
I recognize the peace of mind that comes with knowing your property is managed and checked while you are absent. Services vary and are designed to your needs. |
